Member Monday: Jordan Skophammer

WHY DO YOU RACE? WHAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS? I race to challenge myself. I have always been into bikes and cycling since I was a little kid. This year I decided to take it to the next level, and train to compete in races.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRAIN AT KINGFIELD ENDURANCE? A few years ago, I broke my ankle pretty severely, and during my recovery I would constantly use my injury as a excuse to not workout. Finally in January 2017, I felt like I needed to do something to get back into shape. When doing research on gyms in the area I came across Kingfield Endurance. I was very interested in doing solely Crossfit, and there is many different gyms to choose from. Once I found out that Kingfield Endurance offered both Crossfit and a cycling program, I was sold.

 

WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
I love the variety to the workouts. Whether it is a change in movements, volume, or intensity; my body is constantly adapting from each workout. Also the coaches and other athletes training are a great support group. I feel committed to push myself because of the encouragement from the coaches, and knowing others are working hard along side me.

HOW HAS THE CROSSFIT TRAINING IMPACTED YOUR ENDURANCE  SPORTS PERFORMANCE? I feel like my overall strength is the best it has been in years, especially my lower body strength. In the past, I neglected to do any kind of strength training for my legs. I have learned how important it is for cycling.

DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT?  "Shut up, and do it!" It is so easy to start making excuses to not get out of bed at 5am or to take it easy on your last round of burpees. So when that little voice in my head starts to tell me "I can't", I say "Shut up and do it!" Every time I tell myself that, bear down and push a little harder, I feel so much better than taking the easy way out.

 

 

 

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT OR WORKOUT?
I have recently become fond of sumo deadlifts. Also, I really like kcal rows.
