WHY DO YOU RACE? WHAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS?
I race to push myself beyond the comfort line that I would otherwise not cross. I love endurance sports because there are few things that are as satisfying as overcoming those voices mid race that are yelling at you to stop but you keep moving forward until you cross the finish line. Plus a cold beer never tastes better then after a long race.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRAIN AT KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
I was training for Ironman Madison last year and then my mom was diagnosed around the holidays with stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer. Both of my parents have trained with Danny for years. During the summer, my mom's condition worsened and Danny would come over to my folks to train my mom when she was too sick to leave the house (she never stopped fighting). Danny and I got around to chatting about training and he mentioned Kingfield Endurance, which blended the benefits of Crossfit for endurance athletes. Right away I was intrigued, as I had done Crossfit before but stopped to run Twin Cities Marathon and begin my Ironman training. I missed the elements of core strength training and the team atmosphere of Crossfit. I was so impressed with the level of care and friendship that Danny had for my mom and dad that I joined and have loved it. It is a perfect blend and a special place. No Crowns. Just Courage is 100% true.

WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
Most importantly the people. The coaches are awesome and everyone is great. We all encourage and motivate each other. I really look forward to coming to class.

HOW HAS THE CROSSFIT TRAINING IMPACTED YOUR ENDURANCE SPORTS?
I can feel myself getting stronger. Having done Crossfit before, then taking a break to train for Ironman, and then coming back to Crossfit at Kingfield Endurance, I can definitely say that there is no way to hide your weak spots. It forces you to address the areas you might overlook and make them stronger. Anna and Lea are great coaches who take the time to teach you proper form, push you and understand the intersection of Crossfit and endurance.

DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT? I stole this but I have always liked it since I heard it - "Glory through suffering." I have repeated it to myself many times when those voices are yelling at me to stop.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?
The deadlift and the clean are my favorites.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?  A dry aged ribeye.

WHAT IS YOUR POWER SONG?  Welcome to the Jungle by GNR.
