WHY DO YOU RACE? WHAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS?
Endurance sports have always been something that I had to work at. To be completely honest, I hated running when I joined the military at 18 years old. The Army didn't care what my thoughts were, so I started running more and more, in hopes that it would get easier. I'm still not sure it ever got easier, but I did get faster, and like everything I do...I turned it into a competition. Years later I discovered how much I loved riding bikes. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 29 years old, and a bicycle was the only means of transportation that I could legally operate in Florida. I was instantly hooked, and wanted to be the fastest guy on the road.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRAIN AT KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
The athletes, coaches, and the community they have created at Kingfield Endurance is amazing. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're where you are supposed to be. I'm challenged daily, and having theses people around me makes it easier for me to step outside of my comfort zone
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
I turned 31 today, and I still want to be the fastest person on the road....Also, have you guys seen Danny Yeager in Lycra? Who wouldn't come back?
HOW HAS THE CROSSFIT TRAINING IMPACTED YOUR ENDURANCE SPORT?
CrossFit is another tool I use to keep pushing myself. I can't get out and ride everyday, nor do I always want to get on the bike. CrossFit is a great way to help build my foundations for cycling, and keeps me from getting burnt out on the bike.
DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT?
I have a few buddies that I lost over the years in the Army, and I think of them when I'm struggling. I think of how hard they fought, and that gives me that extra push I need to get through the workout, or race.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?
I love wall balls... I actually hate them, but I can feel the benefits of them almost instantly. As for the bicycle, I love sprint work.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
I have found a way to make an entire food group out of chicken wings...
