WHY DO YOU RACE? WHAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS?
I grew up watching the Tour de France with my father. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a bike racer. When I started racing at 16, I was hooked! I love training and racing endurance sports because it gives me space for myself inside this big head of mine. Training in zen and racing gives me structure on my life.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRAIN AT KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
I wanted to kick my training up a notch. After racing with Coach Anna, I wanted to know how I could perform like her and what was her training regimen. When I found out she trained athletes, I immediately wanted in because it was obvious she knew how to get results.
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
The people. And the fact that I discovered I loved the short, high end challenge of CrossFit. It's different than long hours in the saddle and I love the feeling of just having your body totally and completely spent.
HOW HAD THE CROSSFIT TRAINING IMPACTED YOUR ENDURANCE SPORT PERFORMANCE?
This year has been a difficult one for me. I suffered all winter long with continuous respitory infections. CrossFit kept me strong even when I had to take weeks off and gave me motivation to get training again.
DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT?
You CAN do it! So often we tell ourselves we can't. So I like to remind myself that it's my mind limiting me. Not my body.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?
I LOVE kettle bell swings. The movement feels super solid for me even when I'm exhausted.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
Kale...or pancakes...but not together.
WHAT'S YOUR POWER SONG?
I'm really into Beyonce right now. Throwback to survivor?
