WHY DO YOU RACE? WHAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR ENDURANCE SPORTS?
Racing is my selfish indulgence. I race because I don’t shop. My love of endurance sports started when my BFF Carolyn Todd recommended I join the YMCA swim team. Never mind that I couldn’t swim (at all). This was the goofiest most lovely group of people I had ever met! From there it was Janet Evans in the Olympics, then my friends Gracia and Joy in track then Julie… strong, happy, girls then women that I admired were endurance athletes. Once I tried swimming and running I was hooked for life.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TRAIN AT KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
Danny called with all of his “Dannyness” saying he was starting an Endurance group. We don’t say no to Danny and Amanda at our house. They are friends.
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO KINGFIELD ENDURANCE?
1. It’s hard not to (come back)! Kingfield is my happy place.
2. My family loves it there and I love the coaches and athletes
3. I have yet to put together a string of 10 pullups but know that I can.
4. Endurance sports can be lonely and mundane. Kingfield provides the comradery, support, and loveliness one needs to get it done.
5. I crave the variety. There are only so many miles one can run, swim, bike before it gets old. Challenging myself in a different way keeps me interested motivated.
6. Lea, Christina, Anna, Malai, Steph, Danny, Amanda, Tony, Caitlin, Yang...

HOW HAS CROSSFIT TRAINING IMPACTED YOUR ENDURANCE SPORT(S) PERFORMANCE?
My casual comfortable running pace per mile is down by 30 seconds, I feel strong, I eat to perform, I have no injuries due to strengthened muscles that provide stabilization, I am part of a community of like-minded individuals that think being healthy is cool, it’s my release. It’s my place to do hard things that don’t earn me a paycheck, and nobody asks me to get them milk or find their wallet, It’s MY place, yet somehow and maybe most importantly it’s also our family’s place. I love that Haseley says “Mommy, can I go to Crossfit with you?”
DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT?
It can get a little loud in my head when things get tough during a workout so I just say over and over: “I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.” So that there is no room for anything else to be heard.. by me… in my head… although sometimes when things are really hard, I do end up mumbling it out loud too. It quiets the voices that tell me otherwise.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?
Wall balls, burpees, and box jumps… pull ups… anything but jump rope really.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
Salmon with like every veggie you can imagine and a side of sweet potatoes… banana split for desert. With two La Croix waters (one coconut or grapefruit and one lime) Too much? You asked.
WHAT'S YOUR POWER SONG?
Till I collapse –Eminem
